In today's connected world, charging your phone or tablet at public USB ports in places like Mumbai airport, Delhi cafes, or Bangalore train stations can be risky. These ports can be compromised to steal your personal data – a practice known as 'juice jacking'. The PortaPow USB Data Blocker is your simple, effective shield. Imported directly from the USA, this compact device plugs into any standard USB port and physically blocks the data pins, allowing electricity to flow for charging but preventing any unauthorized data exchange. It's like a condom for your USB port! Keep your photos, contacts, banking information, and personal files safe. Unlike software solutions, this is a hardware fix that works instantly and requires no setup. We handle all the import complexities, including duties and GST, so you receive this vital security device quickly and affordably in India.
Works well for me, well made and trusted These work perfectly for allowing one to connect a device to any random USB-C port they come across without worrying about someone being able to hijack the data on the device. Now SHOULD one connect to a random USB-C port for charging? Not if you can avoid it but sometimes circumstances just dictate that you have to do so.This cable is for that situation. It provides power to your device while interrupting the data lines so that a suspicious host device cannot steal or mess with your data.I've used equipment from PortaPow for a few years now and never had any issues with them.Running some simple tests with simple test equipment and my phone and tablet I noted that I was able to negotiate a high(er?) charging rate than I would have had with just a 2-wire power connection. This seems to indicate that there is enough "smarts" in the cable to ensure better-than-minimum charge rates. Although YMMV as I see various reviews that certain devices could not negotiate the higher charge rates. Not having access to a full test suite I can only report that--for my own uses--they work fine and are from a company I trust.
No data goes through USB C uses data to figure out if it can send more power. When I use this to charge phone or other devices its a slower charge, but I also know no data is being sent. Pros and cons. Solid product from a solid company, as always.
Works, durable, red highlights aid in finding it Used on two extendend overseas trips. I was able to keep my phone charged in aircraft and during airport layovers without risking my data. Well made. The red makes them stand out in a backpack or carryon pocket, and less likely to be left behind. (With any data blocker, test it to ensure it actually blocks data connection. Connect your phone with your computer and see if the computer lists it as another device.)
Only works with some cables I tested this on my USB cable tester attached to a full featured USB C to C cable. It does appear to block all USB data lines, as well as the sideband lines and one of the config lines. These last two seem somewhat unnecessary, and it's probably why the cable seems to also block all charging when connected onto the end of an "E-Marker" cable.Apparently most of the cables I own contain E-Markers except for one short one. Through this I was able to charge and the USB-PB voltages were apparently able to be negotiated. It also seemed to work on the end of a USB A to C cable. So it "works", but as a practical matter I'm not sure how useful this is in the real world.
Works Great! Bought these for traveling and rental car use to keep my phone data safe, and they work perfectly! Every time I plug my phone in to a rental car with this cable, my phone yells at me to make sure the cables are connected properly because data isn't transferring - and that's a reassurance I love to see!The best part is that this adapter allows my phone to charge just as fast as my cable that plugs into it would. I tried connecting my phone through this adapter to my two different laptops and I couldn't find the phone on either, plus no car can find it, so I would say these work as intended. This adapter essentially works by breaking the data link between a data-enabled power cable and whatever it is plugged into because the adapter does not contain the middle data transfer pins. Unfortunately not many charging cables come without data transfer pins anymore, so now we need to spend extra for this protection. As frustrating as it is to spend more money for a cable/adapter that does less, the piece of mind is worth every penny.
One price. One payment. No surprises.
